What coaching is (and isn’t)!
Have you ever had that quiet thought pop into your mind… there has to be more to life than this?
Maybe life looks good from the outside. You might be managing work, family, responsibilities and expectations. But underneath it all, you might feel stretched, out of balance, disconnected, or unsure about what you really want next.
Our 40s and 50s are often the stage of life where many women begin to question things. Values shift. Priorities change. What once felt fulfilling may no longer feel aligned.
This is where coaching can offer powerful support.

What coaching is
Coaching is a supportive, forward-focused process that helps you gain clarity, reconnect with what matters most to you, and create meaningful and lasting change.
When you work with a coach, it can help you slow down, reflect, and explore what feels out of balance in your life. A coach will guide you through reflective and practical exercises that help you understand where you are now, where you want to be, and what steps can help you get there.
Coaching can support you to:
- gain clarity around your goals and direction in life
- reconnect with your values and what truly fulfils you
- build confidence and trust in yourself
- overcome self-doubt and limiting beliefs
- create realistic and achievable action steps
- feel more balanced and aligned in everyday life.
Coaching is not about completely changing who you are. It is about helping you reconnect with yourself and create a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.
Why many women seek coaching
Many women begin exploring life coaching during periods of transition or reflection. This can include career changes, having a baby, children becoming more independent, relationship shifts, or simply a growing awareness that something needs to change.
You might recognise yourself here if you:
- feel overwhelmed or out of balance
- feel stuck or unsure about your next chapter
- feel like you have spent years looking after everyone else and are unsure what you want now
- feel disconnected from your passions, purpose, or joy
- want to make changes, but do not know where to start.
Coaching provides a supportive space where you can focus on yourself without judgment or pressure.
What to expect in a life coaching session
Many people feel unsure about what actually happens during a coaching session, so here is a brief overview of what a session looks like with me.
The experience is supportive, calm, and completely centred around you. Each session will usually include the following.
Check in and reflection
I start by inviting you to share what has been happening in your life, what feels challenging, and what feels important to explore.
Guided conversation and clarity
I ask lots of questions and use a variety of practical exercises to help you explore (often unconscious) patterns, beliefs, and possibilities you may not have considered before.
Goal setting and practical steps
Together, we identify what changes will have the biggest impact on your life and break down your goals into realistic and manageable steps that feel achievable and aligned with your lifestyle.
Support and accountability
I support you in staying committed to your goals, reflecting on what is and isn’t working, and helping you adjust the steps you take while celebrating your progress and growth along the way.
Most clients leave sessions feeling clearer, calmer, and more confident about their next steps.
What coaching isn’t
There can sometimes be confusion about what coaching involves, so it is important to be clear about what coaching is not.
Coaching is not therapy or counselling. Therapy often focuses on healing past trauma or treating mental health conditions. Coaching focuses on present challenges and future possibilities.
Coaching is also not about someone giving you answers or telling you what you should do. I believe you already have the wisdom and insight within you. My role is to help you uncover it and support you in taking action.
Coaching is not a quick fix. Meaningful change takes reflection, commitment, and willingness to grow.
Who coaching may not be right for
Coaching may not be suitable if you:
- are seeking treatment for mental health conditions or trauma
- are looking for someone to solve problems for you
- are not ready to explore change or take personal responsibility for growth
- want a quick fix!
If you are unsure whether coaching is the right support, a discovery call can help you decide.
The outcomes life coaching can support
Coaching can create meaningful and lasting wellbeing outcomes. Many clients experience:
- greater clarity and direction
- improved confidence and self-trust
- stronger boundaries and balance
- renewed motivation and energy
- a deeper sense of purpose and fulfilment
The changes are often gradual but powerful, helping you create a life that feels more aligned and intentional.

Is coaching right for you?
If you have been feeling out of balance, unfulfilled, or quietly craving change, life coaching can offer a supportive and empowering way forward.
You do not need to have everything figured out before starting. You simply need to be open to exploring what you want next.
